Charlie’s hands moved instinctively, gripping her waist tighter as he tried to keep up, his breath coming in short, shallow gasps. His mind was a haze of sensation, the feel of her body against his overwhelming every other thought, every other feeling.
"Why do you always have to ask stupid questions, Charlie?" Her voice was sharp, biting, with none of the softness that had briefly surfaced before. "I’m fine. I don’t need you to check on me."
Her lips found his again, but this time the kiss wasn’t sweet or tender. It was harsh, almost biting, her teeth grazing his lower lip as she kissed him with a desperation that sent shivers down his spine.
