Hermione smiled, though it felt forced. The truth was, she wasn’t sure how to explain what hadhappened to them—how much her body and mind had been affected by the wolf inside her. Theywouldn’t understand. Not fully. Not without knowing everything about the heat, about what hadalmost happened with Remus.

Hermione’s mind raced. If Greyback was recruiting again, it meant there were other werewolves outthere—wolves who might not know what they were getting into, or worse, wolves who were alreadyloyal to him. And Remus... Could he be in danger? She doubted he would willingly cross paths withGreyback, but the fact that Greyback was still out there, actively seeking others, made her chesttighten with worry.

Remus shook his head, the guilt weighing heavily on his chest. “I should have resisted. I knew whatwas happening, and I still…” His voice trailed off, the memory of Hermione’s whispered pleas—Alpha—still fresh in his mind. “I almost hurt her, Albus.”

“I don’t think I should be around her anymore,” Remus said finally, his voice heavy with resignation.“It’s too dangerous. She needs someone who can help her without risking her safety.” Dumbledore’s eyes narrowed slightly, and for the first time, there was a hint of firmness in his tone.“You are one of the few people who truly understand what she is going through, Remus. If you leavenow, she will lose that connection, that guidance she so desperately needs. And I do not believe, forone moment, that you are as much of a danger to her as you think.” Remus looked down, his hands still gripping the chair tightly. “The Ministry has reached out to me,” hesaid after a long pause. “They’ve been asking for my help with Greyback. I’ve been considering it—maybe it’s time I stop hiding and do something useful.” Dumbledore’s expression shifted, his eyes clouding with concern. “I see,” he said slowly. “FenrirGreyback is a dangerous foe, and the Ministry could certainly use your expertise. But…” He leanedforward slightly, his voice softening once more. “I must ask you, Remus—before you make anydecisions—at least speak with Hermione. Let her understand what happened, let her see that you arenot abandoning her.”
